Examples include:

  • Five-letter words
  • Seven-letter words
  • Eight-letter words
  • Ten-letter words

Finding words that begin with particular letters

Use Begins With to find words sharing the same opening letter or sequence.

For example, select seven letters and enter:

STR

The results will contain seven-letter words beginning with STR.

Use Ends With to explore common endings, rhymes and grammatical forms.

Useful searches include:

  • Words ending in ING
  • Words ending in TION
  • Words ending in LY
  • Words ending in ED
  • Words ending in OUS

Finding words containing a letter sequence

Use Contains when the required letters may appear anywhere within the word.

For example, select five letters and enter:

OUSE

Possible results include DOUSE, HOUSE, LOUSE, MOUSE, ROUSE and SOUSE.

Combining filters

Several filters can be used together. Every displayed word must satisfy all the selected conditions.

For example, you could search for:

  • Eight-letter words beginning with C
  • Seven-letter words ending in ING
  • Nine-letter words beginning with S and ending with ED
  • Six-letter words containing OUS

If no results appear, remove one of the filters or check that the selected length is sufficient to contain all the required letters.
